SEACAT 2013 Accessible Tourism. 与残友同游大都市. 25th of Nov 2012

My team leader and I (^^)
What is SEACAT? It's South-East Asia Conference on Accessible Tourism. SEACAT 2012 is brought by Beautiful Gate Foundation, together with Malaysia Hotel Association, National Council for The Blind, and Cheshire National Council in Malaysia. Accessible Tourism for the disabled and senior tourists has been emerging in various parts of the world for at least a decade now, but the tourism industry in Malaysia and the South-East Asian region has yet to focus on this group as a market.

The event is supported by the European Network For Accessible Tourism, Disabled People International Asia Pacific, and sponsored by the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department. It is the first of such a kind of event organized in the region, and is aimed to increase recognition and encourage policies and actions to promote Accessible Tourism for All.

Activities and programs of the event are carefully designed to disseminate practical knowledge and information on accessible tourism encompassing accessible touristic sights, accommodation, transportation, ICT services, provide accessible entertaining activities and related information to the participants and at the same time create awareness towards Accessible Tourism and the creation of a barrier-free society to the public.

This is my first time to join this convoy activity with OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) so called in English, disable people in KL city. At first, i was so nervous as i've never communicate with disable people and how to take care of them. However, the basic is very easy. Just need to be patience and every time must lock their wheel of wheel chair when stop by. Besides, i've to check with them when ever they need some food and water. After i've joined this activity, it's really meant a lot to me which i've found out they are also a human being like us. They are classifies as any person who is unable to obtain for himself / herself, fully or partially, the normal requirements of an individual and / or is unable to participate fully in the community due to shortcomings either physically or mentally and whether it occurred since birth or later in life.

To be frank, like me, i'm consider luckiest in the world which i'm able to live lively. But once i've joined with them, i've realized that they are more liveliness than me even they are really hard to be more capability in life. For those people who always wanted to die, never thought disable people are the most hardest than us even they never given up to move on! This is really ashamed and should learn from them, what is life

Life is valuable. Appreciate even we are in bad incident. Look at disable people, they are even know how to appreciate their life and become stronger than us. Life is wonderful. Cherish even we are in good circumstances. Once in a life time, help people who need more than us. Help others to see the truth and follow their true self. When we want to die, die with dignity and with a great purpose. Myself with true heart to pray for blessing, may the world of pure land and peaceful be created soon. (^_~)
